Ballet Turns

Here’s another great terminology sheet from Constanza Murphy.  This one breaks down the most common turns used in ballet including detourne, chaine, pique, soutenu, and fouette.  It also includes a review of en dehors and en dedans – important for every ballet dancer to understand.

Allegro Vocabulary

Thanks to Constanza for another great study sheet.  This one focuses on allegro steps.  You’ll have an easier time learning quick allegro combinations if you’re familiar with the names of the steps.

Standard Body Positions

Constanza Murphy made this study sheet for Ballet 3, but it’s good for all of us to know our body positions.  Knowing your body positions by name makes it easier to learn combinations and choreography in class and will also make it easier to reverse combinations.  Test yourself to see how many you already know.
